Cala Caragol lies at the southern end of the coast of the island of Majorca, not far from the resort of Ses Salines. It is enclosed between Punta Negra in the south and Illot d’en Curt in the northern part.
The bottom of the cove slopes down in depth very gently: the shoreline is shallow and the seabed maintains a depth of between half a meter and two meters, up to about 150 meters from the shore.
The best area to give anchor has a depth of 4 to 5 meters, on a sandy seabed dotted with a few scattered rocks.
The northern side of the bay sees the presence of the islet d’en Curt and other rock formations outcropping, while the bay is frequently swept by southerly, southeastern and southwesterly winds.
These conditions require boaters intending to anchor here to be vigilant in case of strong winds, keeping a distance of about half a mile from the coast.
The closest port to Caragol Bay is Port Colonia of Sant Jordi, located about four nautical miles away.
Along the most central and inland part of Cala Caragol is a beach, called Es Caragol.
It is a beach of fine white sand, surrounded by pine forests and enclosed by some dunes, which extend behind it for a radius of almost a kilometer.
The pine forest and an old bunker located in the center of the bay make the cove easily identifiable by those arriving here by sea.
Es Caragol beach is located in an area with very little urbanization.
This gives it a picturesque and “wild” appearance, but makes access difficult for those who wish to get there by land.
The bay can be reached by starting from the nearby Ses Salines lighthouse, going up the coast along a path of about 1.5 kilometers.
The beach’s low attendance and its tranquility make it a popular destination for naturists.
There are no stores, restaurants, hotels, or businesses in the immediate vicinity of Cala Caragol
