Cala en Baster (also known as Cala Santa Galdana) is located along the northern coast of the island of Formentera and is enclosed between Platja de Tramuntana and Rancò de Cans.
It is a small, U-shaped bay and is surrounded by high cliffs, steep and devoid of vegetation.
It is part of a larger cove, that of La Tramuntana, a large bay that affects the northeastern coast of Formentera, from Punta Sa Creu to the tip of Cova de s’Aigua, including many other famous bays such as Calo de Sant Agustì.
The seabed is good tenors, composed of sand and rock.
The best area to anchor is 150 meters from the shore, on a seabed with a depth ranging from five to seven meters.
At the entrance from the bay the depth of the seabed is about 10 meters, but care should be taken because the slope begins to rise rapidly.
Attention should also be paid to the side areas of the bay near the reefs, where submerged rocks greatly reduce the draft.
Cala en Baster is exposed to northern winds (from the north, northwest, and northeast).
Cala en Baster beach s located in the innermost part of the bay, on its left side.
It is a very narrow stretch of beach, formed by rocks and where the presence of sand is extremely limited.
Although it can be reached on foot from the center of Sant Ferrand de Ses Roques, the presence of visitors here is always very limited, even during peak season, due to the small size of the beach and the almost total absence of sand.
Those who decide to arrive here by car instead can park in one of the parking lots located above the bay.
Some wooden footbridges lead from the water to the shore, near the small caves carved into the rock of the cliffs.
In the vicinity of Cala en Baster there are no commercial activities, no toilets, and no food outlets.
To find hotels, bars, restaurants, and a few stores, one must travel to Sant Ferrand de Ses Roques, about two kilometers away.
