Cala Galdana (also known as Cala Santa Galdana) is located along the southwestern coast of the island of Menorca. It is part of the Ferrieres municipality area and is located not far from Cala Macarella and Cala Mitjaneta.
It is a large bay flanked by high cliffs and is set by an urban-type context made up of tourist and residential buildings.
Thick pine forests surround it and mix with the urban agglomeration.
This stretch of coastline sees the sea outlet of two streams-the Algendar and the ‘Algendaret-which, close to the cove, have generated a marshy environment, with its typical faunal ecosystem (falcons, frogs, bats).
The entrance to the cove is about 300 meters wide, and the bottom is good tenors, composed of sand and seaweed (in the westernmost area).
The bay is open to the southwest, and is therefore mainly affected by winds from this direction.
It anchors with a draft of about five meters, and the best part of the bay for giving anchorage is the part located to the southeast.
On days with low winds, Cala Galdana can be an excellent anchorage point where you can spend the night.
Cala Galdana beach is located in the innermost and eastern part of the bay.
It is a large beach of fine, white sand, among the best known on the island of Menorca and very popular with locals and tourists during the summer period.
The waters are clear and always fairly calm, and the slope is gentle and slowly sloping.
Beach patrons have access to toilets and showers, several bathing establishments where they can rent umbrellas and beach chairs, as well as a rescue station and a restaurant.
The beach is accessible to people with mobility disabilities.
A few businesses, hotels and a car rental agency can be found within about a kilometer of Cala Galdana.
Cala Galdana is located about seven kilometers from the center of Ferrieres
