Cala Mondragó

Cala Mondragò (also known as Cala de Sa Font en d’Alis) is located along the southern coast of the island of Majorca, in its central part.

It is divided internally into two smaller inlets, separated from each other by a rocky isthmus of land: s’Amarador and Sa Font en d’Alis.

The best place to anchor in this bay is in the middle between the two inlets. Here the seabed is about six meters deep, and the sandy composition makes it good tenors. The whole bay is exposed to winds from the south and southeast.

Although not far from the urban center, Cala Mondragò is in a quiet location ,surrounded by thick pine forests.

The two beaches within its inlets both have fine, very clear sand and crystal clear waters lapping their shores.

Sa Font en d’Alis beach is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and has little slope.

Close to the beach is a marshy area (generated by the presence of a creek that flows right into the bay) rich in typical fauna, such as eels and water snakes.
The area is also accessible to people with mobility impairments-and once on site- patrons can rent beach equipment, such as sunbeds and umbrellas.

The presence of many kinds of services, easy access and its natural beauty make this beach a highly acclaimed place in the summertime.

Those arriving in this bay from the mainland can arrive by public transportation departing from nearby Cala d’Or, or by their own car, then leaving it in one of the free parking lots adjacent to Sa Font en d’Alis.

The area of Cala Mondragò is part of a Nature Reserve and was declared an area of special wildlife interest by the European Union in the 1990s.

Cala Mondragò is also an ideal starting point to reach the various locations in the Nature Reserve.

The bay is located just over 5 kilometers from s’Alqueria Blanca and is part of the Santanyì district.
