Salinas Beach, whose original name is “Las Salinas” or even “Ses Salines,” is one of the most fashionable and famous beaches on the entire island, a place where partying and nightlife continue even in broad daylight. In fact, the special feature of this place (except for the wonderful crystal-clear waters) is precisely theentertainment, guaranteed by the many beach clubs that keep the music loud 24 hours a day.

The beach is also famous for another very characteristic ritual of Ibizan nightlife: every afternoon, image boys and girls representing the island’s various discos head to the beach to sell tickets for the evenings and advertise.

Undoubtedly a unique place in the world, it is also frequented by rich and famous people, precisely because the service offered is sometimes very expensive, but certainly exclusive and unique. With a constant bustle of people, it is perhaps one of the most crowded coves on the island, both in terms of bathers and boaters, so it is strongly recommended to arrive in the early morning hours to be able to grab a spot.

Las Salinas, however, is not characterized only by social life. This place is magnificent from a naturalistic point of view. It is a tongue of white sand about a mile long, washed by crystal-clear and surprisingly clean waters. In fact, the whole area of the cove, along with the island of Formentera, is part of a protected natural park, the Salinas Natural Park.

A nature reserve, covered with pine and coniferous trees, and scenic sand dunes can be seen in the background. Las Salinas is also unique because of its proximity to the salt flats on the island of Formentera, which make the sea water in this area saltier than normal, a peculiarity that makes it much easier to stay afloat.

The beach also offers opportunities for more traditional activities: on particularly windy days it is perfect for windsurfing, SUP and body surfing. Alternatively, one can rent small catamarans or lasers to explore the nearby coves, which are equally scenic, or engage in diving and snorkeling. Near the beach, you can also take walks in the pine forest, surrounded by nature, or walk to the old Roman observation tower, which was used to prevent pirate raids.

The seafloor presents ideal conditions foranchoring, while remaining a fair distance from the beach. In fact, the seabed has a very gentleslope, allowing swimmers to walk for tens of meters while continuing to touch. So boaters be cautious in anchoring maneuvers, and keep to the western end of the bay, where the seabed is higher. From the opposite end it is possible to glimpse the islands of Formentera and Es Freud.

Las Salinas beach owes its name to a place that is not easy to glimpse from the bay, but which is in its immediate vicinity: continuing for a hundred meters on the road reveals the only existing railroad tracks on the island, an ancient reminder of the passage of freight trains to the salt wharf.
