Located south of the Baie de Pampelonne and its beaches theAnse de la Bonne Terrasse is one of the picturesque locations on the Saint-Tropez promontory.
The small bay offers good protection from the easterly winds but almost no shelter from the mistral and northern winds in general, this cove is much quieter and less chaotic than the nearby bay of Pampelonne, which remains a popular tourist destination at any time of year and especially during the high season.
In the northern part of the bay, the Var department has established an organized mooring area, with 20 berths available, to counter the phenomenon of wild anchoring that affects this beautiful stretch of the Côte d’Azur
It is still permitted to give anchorage even in areas outside the organized mooring perimeter, provided that anchoring is only in areas with sandy bottoms, avoiding areas where posidonia meadows are present to avoid spoiling the delicate underwater flora.
In addition, anchoring and anchoring in general are prohibited in the area immediately south of the organized mooring.
The bay is an integral part of “Natura 2000,” a European institution that works to protect ecosystems and endangered species.
The plage de la Bonne Terrasse is also quieter and more “family friendly” than the more northern (and more sophisticated) ones in the Ramatuelle area. The greater calmness found here is also due to the fact that access for those coming from the mainland is less practical than for those beaches located in the bay further north: the nearest parking lot is very small and in high season it is difficult to find a place. In addition, there is a fairly major flight of steps leading from here to sea level.
The beach of la Bonne Terrasse is not very large (it stretches about 150 meters), is composed of sand and and is surrounded by a nice number of small, light-colored houses.
There is also a restaurant among the surrounding buildings.
It offers toilets, showers, the possibility of renting beach equipment, and the possibility of bringing your own dogs (as long as you keep them on a leash at all times).
L’Anse de la Bonne Terrasse is the ideal place for those who want to breathe in the elegant air of Ramatuelle’s beaches without having to give up the tranquility.
