Anse de Lilong

Nestled between the cape of Cap Ferrat and the small peninsula of Pointe Saint-Hospice,Anse de Lilong is a very picturesque bay on the Côte d’Azur

The calanque is actually part of a larger bay, divided in two by a tongue of land: to the right is theAnse des Fossettes (or des Fossés), to the left is the Bay de Lilong, both of which are popular with boaters as alternative anchorages to the Villefranche-sur-Mer anchorage.

The Lilong anchorage is more sheltered from east and west winds and is less exposed than its western neighbor, especially in the central part. However, it is still an open bay on the open sea, so the possibility of swell from south and southwest currents is always present, and in this case it is good to seek shelter elsewhere.

Although it is a very characteristic and renowned bay, it is almost never subject to overcrowding, even during peak season.
Many boaters choose to stay overnight at anchor in this bay, to enjoy the peace provided by the night hours. However, staying in the evening is recommended only when the weather is favorable.
Within the cove are a series of free concrete or wooden piers, useful for landing on land with a tender, frequented by small fishermen, from which to enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills, villas and dense Mediterranean scrub.

The beach in the bay is the Plage des Fosses, stretching for about 300 meters and consisting of sand and gravel.
The eastern part is overlooked by Avenue Vignon, while the eastern part is quieter because it is away from the road crossing, plus it enjoys the shade of the surrounding pine trees.
Some free showers can be found on the beach, while access for those coming from land can prove challenging because the closest available parking is near the ports of Saint Jean-Cap-Ferrat, where bars, restaurants, and mini-markets can also be found.

Anse de Lilong is a good starting point to reach Nice and the Monaco area.
