Anse de Méjean

Bounded on the west by the promontory of Cap Brun theAnse de Méjean lies within the wider Anchorages de Toulon Anchorages

The bay is well protected from westerly and northwesterly winds but is open in a southeasterly direction and offers no shelter from the winds from this direction that often affect the coast.

To preserve the area from uncontrolled anchorage, the Var department has established here (as in many other areas of the territory) an organized anchorage area that covers the central part of the anchorage and can accommodate up to 30 boats at a time. Otherwise, it is possible to anchor at the southwestern and southeastern ends of the bay.

The part of the sea closest to the shore is reserved for bathers and is marked by a row of buoys.
In the eastern part of the bay, along the small promontory that separates the bay fromAnse de Magaud, is a small port for fishing boats, which retains the charm of the fishermen’s landing places of yesteryear.

The bay’s beach consists of alternating small pebble shoals, steep rocks and sandy areas, surrounded by the blue sea and hills covered with dense maquis forest, with a few beautiful villas.

The beach offers a rescue station and a few restaurants, as well as free parking located at the west end of the bay (in the Cap Brun area) for those coming from the mainland.
Measuring 700 meters in total, it has a narrow, elongated shape and, although nearby parking makes access more convenient, it is not particularly suitable for families with small children because of its conformation and the path one must take to get to the bay.

The westernmost part of the anchorage is also home to a small agglomeration of buildings with muted colors and a picturesque appearance. Some of the fishermen’s huts there are available for rent by those who wish to spend a few days relaxing here.

L’Anse de Méjean offers its visitors a peaceful setting and a magnificent view within walking distance of Toulon, its ports and Saint-Mandrier-Sur-Mer.
