Baie de Briande

Enclosed to the northeast by Cap Taillat and to the south by Cap Lardier, Baie de Briande is part of the municipality of La Croix-Valmer in the Var department.

The bay is popular with boaters sailing between destinations on the Côte d’Azur for its natural charm and tranquility.

The inlet is wide and, in the areas bordering the two capes, gives sailors good shelter from mistral winds, southwesterly winds, and northwesterly winds.
In particular, the area that offers the most protection is the southwesterly, just behind Cap Lardier.
The inlet, however, offers no protection from southerly and easterly winds, a factor that can cause swell and a fairly annoying roll, especially for those who intend to stop here during the night hours.

The bay is part of the Natura 2000 network, a body created to safeguard the ecosystem of sites deemed particularly interesting. For this reason, in the central part of the bay, the Var department has established an organized and regulated mooring area of about 30 places.

In any case, in the presence of posidonia seagrass beds, it is forbidden to give anchor with a dead body and anchoring is allowed only by means that are not destructive to the seabed.

Due to its unspoiled natural beauty (there are also very few constructions near the beach), the bay is a place of passage for many boaters.
Tourists, however, tend to crowd the waters of the cove mainly during daylight hours, then leave again as sunset approaches, leaving the right amount of peace and quiet for those who have planned to spend the night here.

The only beach in the bay is Plage de la Briande, west of Cap Taillat, bordering the adjacent cape beach.
The beach is composed of sand and pebbles and enjoys the shade provided by the surrounding pine trees.

The Bay de Briande can also be reached by land, via a single coastal path coming from the east. For those arriving in the area with their own cars, there are a few parking lots available in the area between Cap Taillat and Ramatuelle, but even if you leave your car in the parking lot closest to Cap Taillat, the walk to Briande beach takes about an hour.
A restaurant can also be found in the area between the baie de Briande and Cap Taillat.

Baie de la Briande also offers an interesting historical note, hidden among the hills that form its backdrop: it is a dolmen, hidden by vegetation, about 300 meters from the sea.
