Located in the southernmost part of the Gulf of Saint Tropez, the Baie des Canebiers is one of the most beautiful coves in the entire end of the Côte d’Azur.

The spot where to anchor best known to boaters who sail in the area is in the center of the bay, with access being along a channel marked by a number of buoys. Alternatively, it is possible to approach the citadel of Saint Tropez and moor a hundred meters from the local marine cemetery at the equipped beach.

The mooring near the citadel allows people to moor their boat and go ashore to comfortably walk to the center of Saint Tropez, with a walk of about half an hour leading to the Tour Vielle and then to the city’s renowned ports.

The central area is more sheltered, but care should be taken in mistral winds not to leave the boat unattended for too long. In any case, throughout the bay the sandy, grassy bottom is a good keeper and allows safe anchoring.

For those arriving here from the northern part of the Gulf of Saint Tropez, it is a good idea to keep away from the coast when sailing because of the many rocks. In addition, during peak season, one should also watch out for heavy maritime traffic.

In an effort to combat the phenomenon of wild mooring, the Var department has set up an organized mooring perimeter near the Cap Saint Tropez nature area in which it is forbidden to anchor with a dead body where underwater posidonia meadows are present.

The beach des Canebiers-in the innermost part of the bay-is composed of sand and about 200 meters long, from which to enjoy a magnificent view of Saint Maxime and its headlands . It is one of the favorite beaches for locals, partly because it is well equipped with public toilets, showers, a rescue station and a nautical club.

There is also a small wooden pier on the beach.
A few hotels, bars, restaurants and various businesses can be found a short distance from the anse de Canebiers.
Entering the bay from the sea, the view is magnificent, with a panorama of dense Mediterranean vegetation, period villas and reed beds at the water’s edge contrasting with the deep blue sea.

Mooring in the central part of the baie des Canebiers, on the other hand, allows hikers to hike along “le sentier du littoral,” a beautiful path surrounded by vegetation that, within an hour, will allow hikers to go around Cap St Tropez and arrive at the beautiful beach des Salines.
