Description

Positioned southwest of the La Ciotat area the Calanque de Figuerolles is a deep inlet open to the open sea, narrow and elongated in shape, surrounded by high cliffs.

Characterized by the deep red rocky coastline, which contrasts with the crystal blue sea and the surrounding thick Mediterranean scrub, the bay-thanks to its very collected natural shape-is extremely picturesque and provides a good shelter to be well ridged from most of the winds that affect the final part of the Côte d’Azur

Due to the narrow size of the cove, it is not possible to have more than two or three boats moored at the same time.
Upon entering the cove, it is good to pay attention to the rock located on the right side, known as “Le Lion.”
It is allowed to anchor in the part of the stretch of water in front of the yellow buoy that signals the depth limit of the seabed of ten meters.

Daytime anchoring is quiet and presents no particular problems. To stay at anchor even during the night hours, one must take advantage of summer evenings that offer particularly favorable weather.
A few round gusts of wind are always possible so, given the characteristic shape of the bay, it is always good to give anchor in the central part, thus keeping the right distance from the surrounding rocks.

In case the little space has already been occupied by other boats, you can try to moor in a small cove immediately east of the cove.

Starting from here it is very easy to reach the ports of La Ciotat and Île Vert.

The beach is small, pretty, and formed of pebbles and is also accessible via a flight of steps from the mainland, so it is quite busy in the summertime with tourists and locals. A parking lot for cars facilitates access for those coming from land. In the evening, once the bathers have departed, those who moor in this bay can enjoy unparalleled tranquility.
