Corsica’s anchorages – Boating in the Rondinara

Rondinara Bay is one of the most photographed places in Corsica, with its almost perfectly round inlet and crystal clear waters it is a real postcard.

The bay is located along the southeast coast of Corsica, halfway between Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio (about 15 miles away from both ports).

Upon entering, attention should be paid to the rocks that form the extension of the tip of the peninsulas that enclose the bay in both the southern and northern parts.

Rondinara’s isa wide anchorage that can accommodate numerous boats at anchor, although recently anchorage space has been greatly reduced. To anchor, one must respect the limit of the floating buoys that mark the areas reserved for bathers and beach activities in both the southern and northern parts of the inlet.

Rondinara Bay offers excellent shelter in all but easterly winds; in this case the most protected anchorage is in the northern part of the inlet. The seabed is sandy and good tenor; the depth is about 4-5 meters.

Because of its beauty and the conformation that makes it ideal for anchoring, Rondinara Bay is often very crowded during the summer season. The beach, which is accessible from land and served by a capacious campsite, is also very busy during the summer. Especially out of season, however, it is still possible to spot the cows that come down to the sea and graze freely on the sand and enjoy the beautiful scenery of this bay with white sand and crystal clear sea.

In Rondinara there are no real boating facilities, but on land it is possible to take advantage of the various services made available to tourists. The beach is easily reached thanks to the long and convenient pier located right in the middle of the inlet that can be accessed by tender, and once ashore there is an ecological island for waste recycling, a bar/restaurant with services; the nearby campground has a minimarket where you can stock up on provisions. A short distance from the beach is a small inhabited hamlet that can be reached by car; Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio are also quickly accessible by land.
