Ravni Žakan, within the Kornati (Kornati) Islands National Park, is a particularly beautiful island to visit. In the southwest bay, opposite the historic restaurant, the largest in the archipelago, there are dead bodies and a pier with berths available. Additional facilities offered are a convenience store and electricity, draught from 4 meters at the head of the pier to 1.6 meters. In addition, Ravni Žakan, along with those in Stiniva, Statival, Lupeška, Tomasovac, Špinate, Lučica, Kravjačica, Strižnja, Vruje, Gujak, Opat, Smokvica, Ravni Žakan, Lavsa, Piškera, and in Anica Bay and Levrnaca, is the only anchorage where in addition to anchorages, overnight stays are allowed within the Park. Safe anchorage thanks to the sand/mud bottom good tenor, clear waters where it will be impossible not to dive. Ravni Zakan is located in the outermost part of the park and is a good place to make the first stop and start the visit, the bay is not as busy as those further inland. It is recommended to purchase park entrance tickets through online presale at kornati.hr, as doing so at the different outlets is more expensive. At the ports you can find the information point and ticket office, where you can also apply for fishing and diving licenses.
Some important rules for diving:
Some prices per day (2015):
boat length up to 11 meters: 150 kuna
boat length between 11 and 18 meters: 250 kuna
boat length between 18 and 25 meters: 450 kuna
Prices per day decrease if you buy a longer duration ticket (three or five days). The park is open year-round, is 190 nautical miles from Trieste, and has as many as 89 islands and 238 total kilometers of coastline, the average temperature in August is twenty-five degrees, and the sunshine hours per year are 2700. Clearly this is one of the most beautiful areas of Dalmatia and probably the most preserved and where sustainability is one of the values placed at the top of the park’s goals, no hotels or tourist facilities are found here, at most fishermen’s houses. That is why the archipelago is one of the most popular destinations for the yachtsman who is free to sail in it, paying attention to only a few protected areas.
