Kilada is a large natural inlet located to the northeast in the Argolic gulf. Characterized by an almost horseshoe shape, it has the peculiarity of having a small island (of the same name) that marks and partially closes its entrance.
This is why Kilada is a popular stopping point for boaters plying the Aegean Sea: it offers excellent shelter from virtually all winds and especially the sea.
Entering Kilada Bay is not a difficult thing to do; there are two options: go through from the north, around the islet, or choose the shorter way by transiting the channel between the islet and the mainland (the headland of which is marked by a light). In the latter case, pay attention to the fact that the depth is not much, averaging 4 meters. In bad weather, absolutely recommended the longer route.
Within the bay there is room for several alternatives. The most practical is certainly to drop anchor at any point in the bay; the bottom is excellent holding, mud and sand, and presents no danger. Beware only in summer, in the afternoon-evening even strong westerly breezes can develop; the advice is to make sure once more of anchor holding.
Alternatively, you can choose to moor at the first pier, where the depth ranges from 2.5 to 5 meters (side mooring). The second and third piers are used by fishermen: avoid them if you want to have a quiet night. Instead, the banked shore should be left clear for cargo ships.
As services there is not much: drinking water at the first pier (however, its poor quality is reported), fuel and water available in tanks. There is a shipyard that specializes in wooden boat repairs; the office is on the first pier and the advice is to go there for any needs. It also has a 70-ton travel lift and a slipway; prices are reasonable.
The village of Kilada is nothing much from a tourist point of view; it has no distinctive architecture but offers basic services that may be useful to the yachtsman (small supermarkets, stores, bars, restaurants). The bay, on the other hand, is full of beautiful beaches
