Cap d’Agde – Brescou – Les Tables

Cap d’Agde – Brescou – Les Tables is an organized mooring area located in front of the port of Cap d’Agde, divided between the shores of the islet of Fort de Brescou and the shores of Les Tables.
It is located in the heart of the Natura 2000 Marine Protected Area “Posidoniers du Cap d’Agde,” managed by the municipality of Agde pescage, and was created with the intention of preserving the marine ecosystem and the delicate posidonia seabed from the impact that can be caused by the presence of tourists and boaters.
It covers an area of about 35 hectares and has more than forty buoys dedicated to buoy mooring and is the largest organized mooring area in the Languedoc- Roussillon region.
It is an ecological mooring area, which is divided into two parts: one located near the islet of Brescou, another located west of the port of Cap d’Agde, about 300 meters from the coast.
Use of the mooring stations is free of charge.
The mooring system in this area abolishes the use of anchors (which can damage the seabed) and allows boats to moor at the ring located above each buoy.
The fixed plates on the seabed -to which the buoys are tied- make it possible to avoid the use of chains, which could ruin the seabed The Brescou area is accessible for mooring from June 1 to September 30, while the one near Les Tables is from April 15 to October 15.
Mooring is allowed from sunrise to sunset and is not permitted (except with special permits granted to dive clubs) at night.
Boats with a maximum length of 17 meters are allowed to moor.
Moorings are divided on the basis of the length of boats they can accommodate (less than 6 meters, less than 8 meters, less than 13 meters, and less than 17 meters).
For those approaching the Brescou moorings, it is good to keep in mind that the route between the entrance to the port of Cap d’Agde and the islet of Brescou narrows.
The maximum speed to be observed in the entire ecological mooring area of Cap d’Agde is five knots.
The surroundings of Cap d’Agde- Brescou- Les Tables offer beautiful beaches, such as the plage de la Grande Coque and La Plagette, close to the port area.
