Baia di Paraggi

Renowned for its emerald-colored sea waters and its beachese, the enchanting bay of Paraggi is located between Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure. Un borgo un tempo abitato da mugnai e p escators.

It is a popular and popular destination for boaters who generally sail in the Gulf of Tigullio. L’anchorages in anchorages is allowed to boats exclusively in the period between October 1 and April 30 (outside the points that delimit it).
During those months of the year, the inlet is
delimited by yellow buoys during the day, and by small buoys with flashing yellow lights at night. As the beach is intended for bathing, anchoring is allowed only outside the area not marked by buoys, where the seabed about 10-20m deep is not always good. Alternatively, you can give anchorage in the cove located a little further south, on a seabed of about 5-8m.

In the summer months, the Anchoragesof Paraggi is a destination not only for boaters, but also for “land” tourists who reach the well-equipped beach on foot or by public transportation along the limited traffic road that connects the tourist centers of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino.

From a naturalistic point of view, the splendid position enjoyed by the anchorages of Paraggi, hidden and set within thePortofino Regional Natural Park, should be noted. The vegetation is so dense and green at any time of year that one would think that one could cross the entire promontory and get all the way to Camogli by jumping from tree to tree, branch to branch, without ever putting one’s feet on the ground. Instead, of course, it turns out to be much more comfortable and enjoyable to venture for the hiking trails available along the park.

A very special destination near the anchorages of Paraggi is theAbbey of San Fruttuoso, which can only be reached on foot or by sea. Totally immersed in the greenery of the national park, the abbey overlooks theprotected marine area of Portofino. The abbey is now owned by the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), which preserves its state and makes it open to the public.

Among the activities that can be done in the Tigullio Gulf, around the anchorages of Paraggi, scuba diving is undoubtedly one of the best possible. Between Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure there are a number of diving centers that organize diving excursions within the waters of thePortofino Marine Area, among which the most striking is certainly the dive to the statue of Christ of the Abyss, protector of seafarers and divers.
