Calalunga Bay is renowned for being one of the most striking bays on the Gargano coast. It is located, in fact, at the extreme tip of the Apulian promontory, known as the Calalunga promontory, not far from Peschici and only 16 kilometers from Vieste.
In the foothills of the Gargano, in fact, the coast is full of caves and inlets that alternate with wide golden beaches. In the stretch of coast to Vieste hidden coves and wonderful bays suddenly reveal themselves in the rocky Gargano coastline such as San Nicola Bay, Manaccora Bay, Turco Bay, the worldly Zaiana and the Bay a of Calalunga.
This anchorage is bordered by promontories that push into the sea and is sheltered by the striking Gargano National Park. This part of the promontory, in fact, is surrounded by the green pine forest that covers the reliefs crossed by deep karst valley systems. The pine forest descends into the promontory almost to the sea, interrupted only by the presence of occasional residences and rocks struck by the breakers.
It can also be reached by car by following a charming coast road that connects Peschici to Vieste, and ends near the rocky ridge and at the path down into the bay.
It is bordered by medium-high cliffs lined with forests and within which is a beautiful beach of fine golden sand, almost 300 meters long.
The entire shoreline is very wide, lined throughout its length with woods and washed by a beautiful, turquoise, crystal-clear sea with sandy, sloping seabed ideal for swimming and bathing. The beach is collected and quiet and provides a unique perspective from which to admire an interesting rock formation ending in an arch in addition to the Calalunga watchtower that stands out in the bay.
On the beach front, the sea is transparent and blue with a seabed, sandy that slopes gradually allowing easy bathing for anyone who wants to enjoy a swim in total tranquility thanks also to an equipped lido. It is definitely a nice bathing facility with affordable prices for being on one of the most beautiful bays of Peschici that offers a bar, self-service and non-self-service catering, showers and services in a wide beach that despite its size is kept quiet and never too crowded allowing access only to users of the establishment.
The wide shoreline and clear water make it a recommended anchorage for children or those who usually entertain themselves in front of the shore, but not for those who like to take long swims where they do not touch.
Calalunga Bay is truly a paradise for those seeking serene relaxation, with no animation or deafening music, and spectacular scenery with a beautiful sea as a backdrop and truly picturesque surrounding areas and a variety of nearby lodging options
