Cala Managu

Cala Managu is located between the cities of Alghero in the north and Oristano in the south, in the municipality of Bosa, in the western part of Sardinia.

The anchorage is very beautiful and protected from all winds, the seabed is about 4 meters and slopes gently down to Bosa beach, which is 1 km long and equipped with bathing establishments and all kinds of accommodations.

The sand is thin and the seabed slopes gently, so the crowding of families with children is maximum, especially during days when the sun is shining and there is no wind.

The water is clear and very clean, so much so that it receives Legambiente’s five-star rating every year on time. The beach offers all possible recreation for young and old, including canoe rentals, wind surfing, kite surfing, boats and organized diving excursions.

It is useless to come to these parts if you are looking for tranquility and silence, vice versa if you want to go down to the shore to find cozy tourist facilities and all kinds of entertainment including food and non-food shopping, this is the ideal place.

Compared to other places in Sardinia however, tourism here is not exaggerated and the coast is in the Plenargia region, where there is Bosa, the only real river town in Sardinia. The town is currently in the province of Oristano, but until 2005 it was part of the province of Nuoro.

It is the only town in Sardinia built near the estuary of a river that is navigable for shallow draft boats. The coastal part of the town is called Bosa Marina and also includes a small port at the mouth of the river.

Within the town, on the slopes of the Serravalle hill is a Malaspina castle dating from the 13th century. In terms of food and wine, Bosa is famous for the production of Malvasia.

Cala Managu beach can be reached by land via a long and uncomfortable dirt road; behind it is thick Mediterranean scrub and in front is a small islet, a destination for divers and snorkelers.

The sand is almost all white and very fine, with the innermost part of pebbles polished by the sea. The seabed is sandy with some rocks and seaweed, fairly shallow for several hundred meters and gently sloping offshore.

There are other coves along the coast that can only be reached by sea, such as Cala Rapina, Cala ‘e Moros, S’Abba Druche, and Tentizzos, all dreamy places.
