Marina di Cugnana is one of the anchorages in the Gulf of Cugnana in Olbia, in the historical and geographical region of Gallura, or the northeastern part of Sardinia. The gulf lies at the foot of Cugnana, a granite massif that reaches an altitude of 650 meters.
The particular nature of this anchorage makes it to all intents and purposes the safest in the maritime area from Golfo Aranci to Poltu Quatu. The real and only problem for sailors is the shallow depth of the seabed especially in the southern part of the anchorages to which is added the presence of a “fishpond” given in concession to private parties.
The Gulf of Cugnana, from which the anchorage the same name is named, in turn derives the origin of its name from the granite promontory that rises behind it, making it a true natural harbor, sheltering it from the strong winds that characterize the area so much so that it has secured its name as the safest anchorage in the coastal stretch of the northeastern part of Sardinia.
Only recently in the locality in the municipality of Olbia called Marina di Cugnana has the marina been built in the southwestern part of the Gulf of Cugnana and it consists of floating docks so it is not protected by piers dedicated to mooring boats. The bottom in this area consists mainly of seaweed and mud and there is a ban on anchoring and fishing in the southern area between Marina di Portisco and Punta Nuraghe due to the presence of an underwater power cable.
The main logistical and technical services are provided to boaters by the Cugnana Verde residential center located here. The main services present consist of a parking lot, bars and restaurants, as well as the possibility of renting umbrellas and deck chairs. The beach, marked by the presence of pebbles and pebbles, is not large in size but is beautifully surrounded by crystal-clear waters and the striking Mediterranean vegetation that makes it not only a lonely little beach, but a true corner of paradise and total beauty.
Marina di Cugnana can also be reached by land from the road from Portisco in the southern direction, turning left for Porto Rotondo and then, again, left, as per the clearly marked signposts.
