Porto Puddu is a very large inlet located in the area of Isola dei Gabbiani, at the mouth of the Liscia River. Being in the northern part of Sardinia, it is characterized by very vivid colors and natural scents of great intensity. Also thanks to its seabed rich in lentisk and cistus.
The inlet is very famous for its beach with very fine sand and the presence of some rocky coves sheltered in small bays that offer incredible views and unforgettable corners to visit. The waters are transparent and emerald and turquoise in color, as is characteristic of this particular stretch of Mediterranean bush.
Boats moving to Santa Teresa di Gallura, arriving from Palau, do not give up mooring at Porto Puddu, which is just up the road. This area is also known as Porto Pollo, and is much loved by the locals precisely because of its beauty and the surrounding environment that offers many hiking alternatives.
In addition, the area is renowned for its windy currents that propel many sailboats and windsurfing enthusiasts. Obviously, the beach and coastline are very busy and well served. Suitable for RVs and equipped with ample parking, it also offers the presence of numerous bars, restaurants, and hotels.
Near the beach, the seabed is particularly shallow. A condition that favors bathing life with children but puts a caution on boats that decide to get too close to the coast. It is advisable, therefore, to respect the space reserved for bathing and to moor one’s boat within the designated limit.
Porto Puddu represents yet another inlet born from the wonderful rock formations of the Sardinian coast. Rich in charm and caressed by its winds suitable for sailing and cruising of the most seaworthy pleasure boats, it offers a fantastic mooring on one’s coastal journey.
