Punta Molentis

Punta Molentis is a cove in the far end of Serpentare Island carved out of a small promontory surrounded by rocks, connected to the mainland by a tongue of sand. Its view takes one’s breath away because of its beauty and the natural setting that appears, in places, unspoiled. Surrounded between the towns of Villasimius and Costa Rei, in the province of Cagliari, it takes its name from the donkey (“molenti” in Sardinian) that was used in the extraction of granite.

The wonderful beach is sheltered from the winds and surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, thus offering a splendid view. It attracts many boats looking for the small cove and a nice mooring spot for a few hours of excellent beach life.

The cove is comfortable and accessible although in some areas it requires physical fitness to cope with the wall of large cliffs, which require practice to traverse them. Apart from a cliff section, the entire beach is well accessible and very livable. It gives wide views of the inlet and the open sea.

Thecove is very charming and well sheltered precisely because of the presence of the promontory on the left side that frames the beach, almost burying it in a protective embrace. Ashore it is possible to rent umbrellas, deck chairs and services perfect for enjoying excellent relaxation, to the view of the entire cove. The Cagliarimooring is mainly dedicated to the left side of the beach. Especially by small sailboats or fishing boats.

There is also a small brick cottage on the shore with a small bar and restaurant. Useful to find all the conveniences of a tourist stop, which finds many enthusiasts in the summer, crowding the beach with amateurs and coastal wayfarers.

Punta Molentis is one of the most beautiful Sardinian inlets in the area and, with its beach, offers a corner of paradise in the already beautiful setting that characterizes the sea space between Villasimius and Costa Rei.
