The Tuerredda anchorage is in the municipality of Teulada in the province of Cagliari in the far south of Sardinia. The anchorage is set in a wonderful inlet between Cape Malfatano and Cape Spartivento and is considered one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
On the coast there is a white sand beach about 600 meters long that is considered among the 10 most enchanting in Sardinia, and the sea is so transparent that boats seem to be suspended in the void. It is forbidden to get too close to the beach, which is always crowded with bathers, and you must keep a safe distance in the anchorage.
On the opposite side of the beachis Tuerredda Island, where the sandy bottom quickly rises to 11 meters. The island is a few hundred meters from the beach and can be reached by swimming.
In the anchorage, the water is shallower, especially in the stretch of sea separating the island from the coast where there is a semi-submerged isthmus. This area is ideal for anchoring and stopping quietly even at night.
A Grecale wind prevails on Tuerredda Island, and the water temperature is not overly cold and fairly constant. It is an ideal place for swimming and snorkeling, or lying in the sun on the smooth rocks.
The beach is well sheltered from the prevailing Mistral (NW) wind and is not far from Chia Bay and Porto Malfatano, whose passage by boat requires special caution because of the shallow water.
Not far away is also the port of Marina di Teulada, equipped with all amenities, and the wonderful anchorage of Piscinnรฌ, which offers shelter from the Grecale and Scirocco winds. This area is stunning, with its Caribbean beach and clear, unspoiled sea.
In summer it is a continuous destination for boats and tourists from inland, to the point that on some days it is impossible to find a place on the beach, and even in the anchorage the traffic of boats, dinghies and canoes is really high.
On land, nature is wild and you can go on beautiful hikes. Among the most interesting things to see is the Aragonese Tower on the Chia promontory, which is still in good condition.
Tuerredda beach is equipped with all amenities, partially free and partially for a fee. The only drawback of this earthly paradise is the crowding; it is advisable not to go there in high season because you risk not finding a free corner of the sea.
The situation on the ground is even worse especially during July and August.
