The Zingaro nature reserve cove extends in the western part of the Gulf of Castellammare, along the eastern side of the Capo San Vito peninsula on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Located midway between the cities of Trapani and Palermo, specifically between the territory of Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo, the cove is enveloped by the Zingaro oriented nature reserve from which it takes its name.
It is nearly 7 km of unspoiled coastline within the Gulf of Castellammare and 1650 hectares in area, a favorite family vacation destination in Sicily of which it represents one of the few stretches of unspoiled coastline. The Nature Reserve that surrounds the anchorage, the first reserve established in Sicily, is most famous for the many species of fauna and flora that live there: as many as 39 species of birds apparently nest here.
In addition to its flora and lush fauna, the Zingaro Nature Reserve is renowned for its magnificent sea, a destination for many tourists every year: in addition to being a terrestrial reserve, in fact, it has a close union with the sea that represents its geographical boundary, but above all the continuous background of an enchanting landscape.
The beaches of this anchorage are beautiful and fascinating, placed in small indentations with sandy seabeds washed by a crisp turquoise sea. The underwater panorama is also a paradise for snorkelers thanks to the variety of colors and shapes that distinguish the lush underwater flora, inhabited by fauna typical of Mediterranean islands.
In addition, there are numerous tunnels and underwater caves to explore and study. This anchorage, therefore, offers anyone who anchors there a dreamy sea and unspoiled wilderness-a true wonder of nature.
The Zingaro nature reserve cove, for all the features described, can only be reached by boat or on foot via one of three marked trails, but anyone who has walked them confirms that the effort is well rewarded by the spectacle that lies before you at the end.
Among bays, inlets, rocks, and coves, its beaches open up sandy or composed of small pebbles. Due to the difficulty of reaching the place and its morphological conformation, the coastline is definitely not equipped with lidos and bars, nor are there any refreshment spots. Therefore, it is necessary to equip yourself before visiting the anchorage with everything you need to experience a beautiful day of sun and sea
