Cala di Pozzarello is a place and a name that evokes history and tradition. It speaks of a part of the peninsula, in the province of Grosseto, where the historic part of the town, is seen then overlooking the sea. In fact, the anchorage, is a resulting inlet framed between several offshoots. Poggio Pozzarello, Poggio Calvello and Monte Calzolera are the heights that descend toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, generating the inlet of Cala di Pozzarello.

The area, which is identified of belonging to a landscape resort area, sees its connotation to the area owned by Porto Santo Stefano. The latter is a well-known tourist destination on the Tuscan Riviera. Pozzarello, a locality in the municipality of Monte Argentario, is thus a resultant of several localities and is the part that gives travelers, a safe front facing the sea.

In fact, by sailing and entering the vast inlet, it is possible to exploit the area as an anchorage for one’s boats, in order to take advantage of the sea for diving and bathing and to comfortably reach the beach. The seabed, which is particularly sandy offshore and muddy in places, provides a buana possibility for anchoring.

Despite this, as a result of the increasing number of small boats using the anchorage, it is easier to take advantage of the buoy mooring system. In fact, the cove is large compared to the shoreline area, which is fairly beaten, even in peak season. There are no support services in the cove.

It is mainly used as an anchorage point for traveling boats or for those small sailboats that perform trips of a few days, having as stops on the map, visiting the Tuscan coast starting from Grosseto. A stop, which is often used for a few days, even a couple of nights, just for the purpose of taking advantage of the famous sunset that is remembered so much by those who have visited Pozzarello.

Especially returning inland, perhaps upon visiting the villages that make up the cove, one can turn one’s eyes to the sea and be amazed. In fact, the location on high ground gives a wonderful view of the cove. Framed by hillside villages with characteristic medieval fortresses and very green vegetation that stands out against the sea below.

A postcard, which once a victim of the setting sun, can give colors of indigo and lilac, suggestively reflected on the hulls of moored boats. During the day, since the beach activity is not full of tourist activities, it is advisable to take advantage of the boating, to visit the oldest and most famous parts of the villages of Pozzarello and Calvello.

The must-sees undoubtedly remain the Pozzarello Fort, the Calvello Tower and the beautiful Church of the Holy Trinity.

Cala di Pozzarello, thus does not live in the shadow of Porto Santo Stefano, but enhances its profile, with an inlet dedicated to the beauty and charm of inland tourism, with stretches of great relaxation and special accompanying frame.
