Cala Maestra roadstead is a wonderful tourist appendage to theisland of Giannutri: splendid anchorage, excellently ridged and with high seabed that allows comfortable anchorages.
The island of Giannutri is considered a naturalistic splendor located in the beautiful Tuscan Archipelago. Since the area of this island has been declared a Maritime Park and is part of the Archipelago National Park, it is subject to many controls. This aspect makes the whole area that is protected by the local authorities even more exclusive. Precisely as a result of this process of preserving the beauty of the place only Cala Spalmatoio and Cala Maestra have been made freely accessible to tourist activities.
The scenery is simply incredible. Crystal clear sea and rocky setting characterized by small paths to proceed to visit the hinterland. Transparent and deep bottoms that offer the visibility of splendid colors. Cala Maestra represents precisely a spot of incredible wonder in the heart of this part of the Mediterranean, so much so that it has prompted many tourist boards, to organize micro cruises for lovers of tourist discoveries.
On the northern part of the cove, towards Cala Spalmatoio, there is a small quay that allows small pleasure boats to moor. This is a part mainly dedicated to passenger loading and unloading activities since it must be left free to dock for those regular ships that connect the island with Porto Santo Stefano.
The anchorage has no services or special port functions and is mainly a momentary mooring point with a purely tourist profile: its function is to allow a visit to a beautiful place, protected by the local authorities.
Being a tourist area it is consequently heavily traveled, and there are a number of cautions and rules to be observed near it. Prohibition of fishing up to 3 meters from the coast and obviously navigation denied in the vicinity of the tourist coast, where bathing is duly allowed.
Entry to the anchorage space must be done carefully in order to avoid wave returns.
This naturalistic masterpiece that is the island of Giannutri sees in this anchorage and in that of Spalmatoio its chance to give tourists the gift of visiting incredible wonders. Because of the composition of the layout of the place and the activities within it, it is clearly beaten by those more familiar with expert maneuvering at the helm of a boat.
The Cala Maestra anchorage is an embrace of the island of Giannutri to all who wish to visit it, by boat and by sea.
