Golfo di Lacona

The Gulf of Lacona represents one of the most beautiful frames, in the incredible panorama of Elba Island. Sailing through the emerald sea that characterizes the coast, many boats and sailing tourists, ride the calm waves to land at the most renowned tourist and seaside shores.

It often happens, that the more capacious and famous Porto Azzurro, can be busy and difficult for mooring, especially in high season. Here then, that the boats that have initiative to extend their trip to even Golfo Stella, can find an excellent recreation also at the Gulf of Lacona.

It presents itself as a decidedly tourist anchorage, carved out in an evocative setting. In fact, the inlet blends perfectly with the beautiful mountainous hills that overlook and protect a sandy beach of remarkable brilliance. The sandy seabed forms a slight decline in front of the beach that allows anchoring away from the shore and thus from bathers.

In front of the small beach there is about 6 meters of clear sandy seabed where you can drop anchor (about 150 meters from shore) and about 8 meters of depth at a distance of 200 to 300 meters from land. The Gulf of Lacona offers boaters good shelter from northern winds. It is surrounded by steep shores on the left and right sides.

About 2 miles deep, it is surrounded on both sides by steep coastline and has two beaches, one to the east and one to the west. Both represent the two best anchorages for those who want to anchor their boats and take advantage of the beautiful sea for a dip. Or, go ashore and take advantage of the coastal restaurants that provide excellent service and local cuisine.

The beaches, also provide those who stop, with attractions purely related to the recreational and tourist life of the sea. In fact, within the gulf, proceeding to Cape Stella and/or Cape Fonza, it is possible to access scuba diving services in the sandy seabed or to rent jet skis. On the other hand, for those who, tired of sunbathing by boat, would like to use the mainland, the beach is equipped with umbrella and deck chair rental services.

The Gulf of Lacona is therefore not just a destination to be reached comfortably by car or bus. It possesses a wonderful space of shining sea in which to moor, with the purpose of being able to take advantage of the many tourist and seaside attractions of the place. An incredible resource of the Island of Elba, which guarantees passing boats, a great moment to remember, in the diary of their trip.
