Porto Cala Spalmatoio

Cove Spread

Cala Spalmatoio is a beautiful inlet on Giannutri Island. Historically used as a space dedicated to boat storage and repair, to this day it is famous as an anchorage for boats that intend to discover yet another natural glimpse of the Sardinian territory.

The landing boasts a concrete quay that allowsmooring and grants entry to boats that want to enjoy the beautiful sea that washes the coast. This ‘area used by pleasure boats, is located on the northern side of the anchorage and is still subject to navigation and mooring regulations.

In fact, boats must give precedence to loading and unloading cargo and passengers, with the obligation to vacate the berth in the presence of scheduled ships. This is to allow docking for those ships that connect the island with Porto S. Stefano and Giglio.

Prohibitions are also to be kept in mind. First of all, fishing up to 3 meters from the coast. Bathing is prohibited outside the areas that are delimited by red and white buoys. In addition, wheel anchoring is prohibited within 100 meters of the inlets.

In terms of navigation, however, attention should be paid only to certain areas of the island. Especially to avoid wave return in the bathing areas. Carefulness that is obviously also signaled for speed when entering the cove.

In fine weather the area enjoys the west and master winds. A feature that makes the sea and the whole setting very livable and picturesque.

Cala Spalmatoio is therefore a perfect cove for those seeking safe mooring in the territory of Giannutri Island. Already impressed by the sea that bathes the stretch of coastline and driven by the desire to discover new and convenient views, he will certainly not be disappointed. The available area is functional and touristically prepared for the life of pleasure boats.
