BRP Evinrude chiude la produzione dei fuoribordo e si accorda con Mercury Marineย
BRP Evinrude spegne i motori. Come un fulmine a ciel sereno, la celebre azienda canadese, con 112 anni di gloriosa storia alle spalle, ha deciso di chiudere la produzione dei fuoribordo. E il motivo รจ presto detto.ย
โIl nostro business nel campo dei motori fuoribordo รจ stato gravemente danneggiato dal Covid-19, costringendoci a interrompere immediatamente la produzione nei nostri stabilimentiย – ha spiegato Josรฉ Boisjoli, presidente e CEO di BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) – Questo segmento giร viveva alcune sfide complesse, ma gli effetti del contesto attuale ci ha forzato la mano“. Una decisione sofferta ma obbligata che avrร un impatto su 650 dipendenti a livello globale.
Dunque, se da un lato Evinrude chiude ufficialmente la fabbricazione degli Evinrude E-TEC e E-TEC G2, dall’altro “concentreremo i nostri sforzi su tecnologie innovative e sullo sviluppo delle nostre aziende di imbarcazioni, segmento in cui vediamo un grande potenziale per trasformare l’esperienza che i nostri clienti avranno modo di vivere sull’acquaโ, ha sottolineato Boisjoli, il quale ha appena siglato un accordo con Mercury Marine per supportare i pacchetti di barche tramite la fornitura di propulsori.
Lo stabilimento di Sturtevant nel Wisconsin, USA, sarร completamente riconvertito per consentire la realizzazione di questa nuova serie di progetti pattuiti con Mercury.
BRP Evinrude chiude ma resta al fianco dei suoi clientiย
Tuttavia, BRP Envirude continuerร a fornire ai suoi clienti i pezzi di ricambio e a onorare le garanzie in essere attraverso la rete dei rivenditori e i servizi di assistenza, inoltre saranno offerti programmi specifici di gestione dell’inventario.
Il marchio canadese ha dichiarato di rimanere fedele alla strategia “buy build transform” (“acquistare, costruire, trasformare”), che ha avuto inizio nel 2018 con l’acquisizione dei costruttori americani di barche Alumacraft e Manitou, seguita da quella dell’australiano Telwater nel 2019.
BRP Evinrude ha anche annunciato di espandere la propria presenza nei segmenti delle pontoon boats e di barche da pesca in alluminio, con soluzioni tecnologicamente avanzate. Verrร quindi sfruttato il bagaglio di esperienza e di innovazione attraverso risorse dedicate alla ricerca e allo sviluppo, al fine di migliorare l’esperienza nautica con prodotti nuovi, come la prossima generazione di tecnologia motoristica con il Project Ghostย e la prossima generazione di pontoon boats con Project M.
Infine, saranno consolidate le operazioni di Alumacraft, con il passaggio da due siti produttivi a uno: l’intera operativitร sarร trasferita a St. Peter, in Minnesota, mentre il sito di Arkadelphia, in Arizona, sarร chiuso definitivamente.
