Dopo tre anni di prove a Cagliari, Luna Rossa si sposta in Nuova Zelanda per l’America’s Cup
La preparazione – รจ proprio il caso di dirlo – procede a gonfie vele. Il sailing team di Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli si appresta a lasciare le acque sarde per tuffarsi in quelle neozelandesi, dove tra poco meno di cinque mesi si farร sul serio. Dal 6 al 21 marzo 2021, infatti, nel Golfo di Hauraki ad Auckland si terrร la 36esima edizione dellโAmericaโs Cup presented by Prada (al momento confermata), cui Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli parteciperร con un unico obiettivo: battere i campioni in carica di Emirates Team New Zealand, osteggiati anche dagli inglesi di Ineos Team e da American Magic.

Non รจ facile lasciare una cittร come Cagliari dove tutto il team ha vissuto tre anni stupendi. ร dal 2018 che il team risiede al Molo Ichnusa, dove lโAC75 Luna Rossa ha preso forma grazie a un meticoloso lavoro collettivo in cui ingegneria e calcoli si combinano con la precisione del lavoro artigianale: decine di raccordi, componenti di idraulica ed elettronica e complessi sistemi di bordo sono installati allโinterno dello scafo in carbonio, mentre i velai con una precisione maniacale assemblavano le vele.

ร stato quindi un periodo decisamente intenso e Cagliari si รจ dimostrata la cittร ideale non solo per lโaccoglienza e il calore degli abitanti, ma anche per la logistica e le condizioni meteo, sempre perfette, che hanno consentito al team di non perdere giorni di navigazione preziosi. Adesso la squadra si sta trasferendo ad Aukland: “Barca 1” sarร imbarcata su una nave cargo che impiegherร circa due mesi per arrivare in Nuova Zelanda, mentre “Barca 2” รจ in fase di ultimazione.
Ci sono stati alcuni ritardi fisiologici dovuti al periodo di lockdown, ma gli sforzi di tutto il team e del design department, che รจ riuscito a coordinarsi anche da remoto, hanno permesso di recuperare tempo. Il secondo AC75 uscirร dal cantiere Persico Marine i primi di ottobre e verrร immediatamente caricato su un Antonov, uno dei piรน grandi aerei cargo in circolazione, pronto per navigare nel Golfo di Hauraki in Nuova Zelanda, per la fine di ottobre.
Da parte di tutta la squadra cโรจ grande soddisfazione per la nuova barca, frutto della moltitudine di dati raccolti e analizzati in questi mesi, ma anche dalle esperienze acquisite durante le tante ore di navigazione su “Barca 1”, varata ad ottobre 2019 e a bordo della quale il team ha continuato ad allenarsi nelle acque di Cagliari fino a pochi giorni fa.
