Mercury Racing sponsor ufficiale del campionato di Formula One Powerboat

Mercury Racing è sponsor ufficiale del campionato di Formula One Powerboat per i prossimi due anni. L’accordo, annunciato alle porte dell’inizio del calendario agonistico, riguarda le stagioni agonistiche 2022 e 2023 e prevede che la nota azienda americana produttrice di motori fuoribordo sarà “Official Maine Engine and Drive Sponsor”. Per le prossime due stagioni un fuoribordo Mercury Racing 360 APX alimenterà la Formula One Race Ride Experience, una barca a tunnel a due posti che sarà disponibile per test di alta velocità e giri dimostrativi vip in ogni sede di gara.

La prima competizione del campionato di Formula One Powerboat si è tenuta dal 29 aprile al 1° maggio sul fiume Neches nella costa del Golfo del Texas, nell’ambito del Port Neches Riverfest. Le altre quattro corse della stagione sono in calendario a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (28-31 luglio), OPC Nationals a Springfield, Ohio (26-28 agosto), Highlands, Texas (30 settembre-2 ottobre) e Lago Havasu, Arizona (14-16 ottobre). Durante ogni evento si sfideranno diverse classi di barche e Mercury Racing sarà presente in ogni weekend di gara.

Aggiunge Tim Seebold, amministratore delegato del Campionato di Formula One Powerboat: «I motori fuoribordo Mercury Racing hanno alimentato le classi più alte dei campionati di Formula One Powerboat, perciò accogliamo con favore con questa sponsorizzazione siglata con lo sviluppo dell’Apex Series, una nuova generazione di motori fuoribordo da competizione».

Il nuovo fuoribordo da competizione Mercury Racing 200 APX alimenterà infatti svariate imbarcazioni alla Formula One Powerboat nel 2022. Si tratta di un modello V6 a quattro tempi da 3,4 litri con una potenza nominale di oltre 200 cavalli, che offre una grande duranta e un elevato livello di tecnologia per ridurre del 90% le emissioni di scarico rispetto al fuoribordo a due tempi 200 SX, che era precedentemente in uso in questo campionato e che non è più in produzione.
