Marina de Formentera

The Marina de Formentera is located within the Dársena Deportiva la Savina, in the only port area on the Balearic island, located in the northern part. In fact, this is where all hydrofoils and regular ferries dock, and La Savina is also home to the only commercial port area.

Marina de Formentera was completely renovated during 2006. It has a number of 64 berths for boats between 8 and 38 meters in length. The draught at the entrance to the port is between 3.5 and 4 meters, while in the dock area the maximum possible draught is reduced and ranges from 2.5 meters to 3.5 meters.

Each berth has a pillar with outlets for electricity (220 V and 380 V), a fuel supply outlet, and a drinking water source. There is also a fuel station in the marina area. The seamanship service is open 24 hours a day, and the marina provides an auxiliary boat service for customers who need to moor.

In terms of waste collection, Marina de Formentera has a sorted waste collection area, a waste oil collector, and a suction system for gray and black water and oily water.
There are also toilets, a shower area, and a weather service within the area. A repair shop is available to boaters, as well as a boat maintenance and cleaning service.

Car, motorcycle and boat rental services and cab boats can be used in the marina. For those who wish to refresh themselves, Marina de Formentera houses a bar-restaurant and a sushi bar.

In the immediate vicinity of theport area (within a radius of about one kilometer) it is possible to find post offices, banks, hotels, restaurants, stores, supermarkets and a sailing school, as well as a boatyard and a travel lift with a maximum capacity of 35 tons. About three kilometers from the Marina, on the other hand, there is a pharmacy and a medical facility.

All-season mild weather, crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches make Formentera a popular méta by tourists from all over Europe. Spain’s tolerant laws on the subject and secluded beaches also make it a popular stop among naturism enthusiasts.

Seabeds rich in vegetation and protected by Marine Reserves also make Formentera a popular méta by scuba diving enthusiasts.

Formentera is a very green island, appreciated not only by sea lovers, but also by hiking enthusiasts. There are in fact 19 green routes, to be explored on foot or by bicycle, to explore the island’s hinterland. Among the many trails, there is also one that follows the traces of the ancient Roman road. The natural landscape consists of dunes, pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation, and it is good to pay attention to the fact that many areas are considered protected areas.

Also characteristic of the Formentera area are the white mills, with lime linings and wooden blades.

The main center of the island is the town of San Francisco Xavier, located about three kilometers from the port area. Here is Formentera’s most renowned square – that of the Town Hall – and a pretty shopping area. Passing San Francisco Xavier you come across San Ferran, a renowned tourist hub. Another tourist attraction is Es Pujol, where you can find a rich selection of restaurants, bars, discos and nightclubs.

The quietest town is La Mola, which owes much of its tranquility to the fair distance that separates it from the more central towns (it is almost 20 kilometers from Marina de Formentera)and to its hillside location, from which magnificent views can be enjoyed.
