Puerto Deportivo Cala’n Bosch is one of the ports on the island of Menorca, located in the Ciutadella area of Menorca, along the southeastern coast of the island.
The ports are accessed near the Cape of Artuix, which-with its lighthouse-is considered the “gateway” to the southern Minorcan coast.
Within the port area is a mooring area that has 276 berths, for vessels between 4 and 18 meters in length.
To access the ports, it is necessary to enter a small channel and pass under a bridge, which in its central part reaches a maximum height of 6.80 meters (which places a limit on the height of passing boats).
The maximum draft-for this access area and in other port areas-is 1.50 meters.
That of Cala’n Bosch is a small port, also called “Lake,” because of its gathered shape and origin.
Customers at the port can find here electricity supply columns and sources of drinking water supply at each berth, toilets and showers, garbage collection areas, containers for waste oil collection, a wi-fi Internet network, telephone and fax.
The port also has a boatyard for repairs on boats and possible overhaul services on the hull and engines, a hull cleaning service, a loading and unloading area, and a fueling station (open in July and August from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday).
The port area also includes a nautical store, some bars and restaurants, hotels, and car rental agencies.
Other hotels, restaurants and various businesses can be found nearby.
From the ports of Cala’n Bosch, it is also possible to set off on a guided boat tour along the coast of Menorca.
Scuba diving enthusiasts can rent the necessary equipment here and participate in guided excursions.
Next to Puerto Deportivo Cala’n Bosch (precisely 100 meters away) is Cala’n Bosch beach, in a U-shaped cove.
It is an urban beach with clear, fine sand, surrounded by high cliffs and rocks and is one of the most popular beaches in the southern part of Menorca, both by tourists and locals. In favorable weather, the waters and seabed in front of the beach are a suitable place for giving fonda and diving.
A first aid station, toilets and showers can be found on the beach, and umbrellas and beach chairs can be rented.
About eight kilometers from the port of Cala’n Bosch is the beach of Cala en Turqueta. It is a beach with crystal clear waters and fine white sand, located in a small cove and surrounded by vegetation. The presence of long stretches of rocks divides the beach of two parts.
The seabed near the beach is suitable for anchoring, but only for boats with a draft of no more than two meters.
However, the entire coast of Menorca is dotted with coves, small beaches and caves that are well worth a visit and attract scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.
The center of Ciutadella is about 9 kilometers from the Puerto Deportivo of Cala’n Bosch and can be reached by public transportation or by following the bicycle path.
Ciutadella is considered the nerve center of the island of Menorca. The many vestiges of the people who conquered it, the small natural ports, its narrow streets, and its cathedral make it an attractive tourist destination.
There are also many clubs and restaurants where one can spend the evening hours.
