Located in the southwestern part of the island of Procida, the port of Chiaiolella is a picturesque harbor offering several services.
The landing is located in a naturally sheltered position, nestled in a bay between Punta Solchiaro and Punta Mezzogiorno. It is protected by two piers, one east and one west. In addition, the north and west sides of the shore are banked.
For the pleasure boat landing there are several piers for mooring, operated by various local mooring cooperatives, all of which are private and belong to a single consortium, the Marina di Chiaiolella.
The main wharf is located in the western part of the landing, is T-shaped, and was built to accommodate large boats.
Boats must enter by following the centerline.
Two lights signal entry, one with a fixed green light positioned at the head of the Levante pier and one with a fixed red light positioned on the Ponente pier.
The port offers a wide range of services to its boaters, including a grocery store, Wi-FI connection, and car parking for those coming from land.
The Chiaiolella marina area offers a good selection of bars and sea-view restaurants serving typical local cuisine.
The port of Chiaiolella is overlooked by the verdant Santa Margherita hill and enjoys a view of an old fishing village with colorful little houses.
Treating yourself to a short walk, you can quickly reach Ciraccio Beach, a quaint area surrounded by greenery.
In the stretch of water in front of the beach, you can give fonda in peace, thanks to the good sandy bottom and protection from quadrant II and III winds.
In the immediate vicinity of the Chiaiolella landing is also the bus station, with which you can tour the entire island.
From the port you can also easily get to the connecting bridge that leads to Vivara, a ‘natural oasis in miniature.
Procida is just over three kilometers from the mainland and the beaches of Capo Miseno.
The island is part -along with Ischia and Vivara- of the Marine Protected Area Regno di Nettuno (Neptune’s Kingdom), an oasis that aims to safeguard the seabed of the Phlegrean islands, rich in vegetation and various animal species. Fishing and any other activity that may compromise the ecosystem is regulated. In the total reserve zone-in the western part of Vivara’s coastline-any kind of activity is prohibited, including boating and natation.
A tour of the island of Procida will allow you to discover the beauty of the lush nature and picturesque villages and enjoy the sheer landscapes of the sea from the other side of the hills.
Procida is an excellent starting point for reaching Ischia (4 miles) and the port of Pozzuoli (6 miles). Capri, on the other hand, is 15 miles away.
