Description

Located at the end of the anchorage the same name, the Port Départemental de Cassis is one of the last eastern landings on the Côte d’Azur.

The approach to the port is also easily done at night thanks to the white light lighthouse located in the central part of the bay, just to the right of the large cliffs. The harbor is well protected from almost all winds, particularly the mistral wind, but does not offer good shelter from south/southeast winds. With currents coming from this direction, access to the ports can also become difficult.

There are 25 places reserved for transit travelers, and they are located along some of the many piers in the port area. It is also possible to give anchorages in the anchorage area. The ports are very popular, especially in the summertime.

Alternatively, one can continue one’s navigation westward-in the direction of Marseilles-and arrive at the Calanque de Port Miou, a natural landing place somewhat less busy during the summer season than the port of Cassis, where more than 400 berths are made available for boaters.

The port offers many services, including a garbage collection area and a system for collecting black water and waste oil from moored boats.
A sailing school and a boatyard are also located here.

The port area is home to a number of eateries and a laundry. Because of the centrality of the port, stores and businesses in the city center are within easy reach.

Travelers who land in the ports of Cassis can enjoy a very pleasant view of the terraces of the cafes overlooking the sea and the small, pretty, colorful houses.

Going just behind the port, one can take advantage of the presence of la Plage de la Grande Mer, a large city beach composed of sand and pebbles, where one can find restaurants and a small parking lot.
