The port of Macinaggio, which owes its name to the presence of a large number of windmills, is the most important port in Cap Corse. It is located at the very eastern end of Cap Corse, a peninsula located in the northeastern part of Corsica. The port of Marcinaggio lies within an anchorage well sheltered from winds blowing from the West (such as the Mistral) and from S – E (the Sirocco).
In addition to tourism purposes, the port is also used as a fishing point. Within Port de Macinaggio, 585 berths are provided, 180 of which are exclusively reserved for boats in transit. There is an obligation to moor deadhead.
The entrance to the port is open to the north and is 35 meters wide, with water depths of 3.4 meters. Maneuvering access to the port does not pose any difficulties either during the day or at night; however, access can be complicated when strong winds blow from the east.
The services provided within the ports are many. Boaters can use 6 toilets and 15 showers, provided by the port. There is also a telephone booth, car parking, and laundry service. An ice store, supermarket, bars, and restaurants are located in the immediate vicinity.
The docks are lighted and equipped with outlets that ensure the supply of drinking water and electricity. A garbage collection service is in operation, as well as the possibility of using the cleaning service for one’s own boat.
Security within the ports, both on land and in the water, is ensured by the 24-hour guard and video surveillance service.
The weather service is efficient: daily, twice-daily weather reports are posted inside the ports office. For Corsica, you can also visit the Meteoconsult website or download the free Météo Marine app on your smartphone.
The fuel station at the quay is open all year round. During the summer months it follows continuous hours from h 07.00 to 21.00; however, during the rest of the year it is open from h 8.00 to 12.00 and again from 14.00 to 17.00.
Engine repairs, electrical and electronic repairs, wood, fiberglass or steel hull repairs, and sail repairs are carried out within the port. There is a slipway for hauling up to 45 tons and a 2-ton crane. Outdoor storage is available.
