Port de Propriano

Port de Propriano is a commercial, tourist and fishing port located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Valinco, between Ajaccio and Bonifacio. The port is located within an inlet bordered on the north by the Scogliu Longu on which the breakwater and commercial port docks are built. To the southeast is the marina composed of two adjacent docks accessed by different entrances. The larger basin located to the east with the entrance marked by a green light has a 440-meter-long elbow breakwater. The second smaller basin is located south of the commercial port.

The port offers 330 berths including 40 for transit for boats up to 48 meters in length and 4.5 meters draft in the main basin, 2.8 meters in the second basin. A fuel station, water and power outlets, a 20-ton crane and slipway are available in the port. A supermarket, bars, hotels and restaurants are located in the ports.

If arriving from the North pass Pointe de Porto Pollo paying attention to the shoal of Rochers du Turavu. If arriving from the South make your way to the bottom of the gulf until you locate the town of Propriano Near the port pay attention to a shoal located 150 meters north of the lighthouse located on Scogliu Longu. At night approach the harbor keeping in the white sector of the lighthouse passing to the north to avoid the shoal.

To enter the main dock leave the green light located on the breakwater to the right, leave the white light to the left to enter the smaller dock. The marina is perfectly sheltered. Ships and ferries have the right of way. It is prohibited to stay at anchor inside the commercial ports. When you have entered the port contact the harbormaster for berth assignment.

Propriano nestled at the bottom of the Gulf of Valinco is a busy tourist and seaside resort with long beaches. Worth mentioning are Plage du Corsaire, Plage du Lido, Plage du Cape Larosu, and further south the picturesque Plage de Portigliolo. The nautical center rents windsurfs, catamarans, and sea kayaks and organizes boat trips.

North of Propriano is the prehistoric archaeological site of Filitosa, one of the largest in Europe. This prehistoric site recognized as a World Heritage Site is famous for its array of carved-face statue-menhirs.
