The Sant’Ambrogio Marina is located southeast of Punta Sant’Ambrogio within a residential complex. It provides shelter for 200 boats up to 22 meters in length and has water, electricity and a fuel station. A shopping center and a boat club are located in the ports. There is a 25 T crane and a slipway ramp.
Within the ports there is good shelter. In rough seas from the northeast, access becomes problematic. After storm surges the entrance tends to silt up. The lights at the head of the piers blur with the city lights at night, so it is advisable to enter the ports during the day. After entering the port one must pull up to the dock near the gas station while waiting for instructions from the harbormaster to moor.
2.5 km to the west is Punta Spano, an isolated point incised by an inlet and faced by rocks and islets to be passed with due caution and in calm wind conditions. A path starts from the Punta to reach the Plage de L’Arinella and the Genoese tower that rises to the northeast.
St. Ambrose is located in the Balagne region halfway between Calvi and Ile Rousse. The coastal area is rugged and covered with Mediterranean scrubland that reaches down to the back of a white sandy beach. La region of Balagne, the northernmost of Corsica offers long sandy beaches, sheer cliffs, and mountains that reach up to lap the beaches. The uogo’s natural environment offers the possibility of hiking, biking or horseback riding through trails surrounded by Mediterranean scrub.
LaBalagne is also a land where Corsican cultural identity is keenly felt to be experienced through its many festivals, music festivals and craft fairs. Typical products of Balagne are niellaghja, a local variety of olive oil, and Sant’Antonino crunchies.
