Port de Saint-Florent

Porte de Saint-Florent is the only port equipped for boating between Macinaggio and Isola Rossa. It is located within a deep gulf well sheltered from all winds on the east side of the inlet where the Aliso River flows. The port offers 850 berths of which 270 are for transit for boats up to 47 meters long and 2.4 meters draft. The dock has a fuel station open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., water and power outlets, slipway, 15-ton mobile crane, and 45-ton travel lift. Near the ports are grocery stores, hotels, and restaurants.

A footbridge across the river limits the height of boats that can moor upstream to 2.5 meters. The presence of the river results in shallow bottoms due to the accumulation of sand and mud, so a 3-meter deep dredged channel must be followed for access to the port. Access to the port does not present difficulties except in strong north-northwest winds that create waves.

If arriving from the north conspicuous points are the abandoned factory, the town of Nonza on a cliff overlooking the sea, and the Punta Vecchia lighthouse. Head south skirting the shoreline and paying attention to the Tignosu rock, a group of rocks and shallows that must be left behind before heading toward the harbor mouth. Coming from the west, skirt the shoreline on which white beaches alternate with rocky cliffs and head toward the gulf, passing first Punta Mortella then Pointe de Cepo on which stands a fort with a small lighthouse. For nighttime entry references are the light at Punta della Vecchia and the light at the head of the harbor breakwater. The entrance is easily accessible both during the day and at night. Once you enter the ports, contact the harbormaster for mooring assignment.

Saint-Florent main town of Nebbio is located 23 km from Bastia. The heart of the town is the old sand-colored citadel of Genoese origin from which there is a beautiful view. A single building adjacent to the port remains of the original complex built at the time of Genoese rule. The 12th-century Cathedrale du Nebbio, 1 km from the town, is worth a visit.

Plage de la Roya located 2 km from the city center in a southwesterly directionisa long tongue of sand from which you can enjoy an excellent view of the city and surrounding hills. Here you can find several centers that organize all kinds of sports and nautical activities, from diving to kayak and boat rentals for excursions.
