Port de Tizzano

Port de Tizzano is located 18 kilometers from Sartène near Propriano ports within a narrow rocky inlet. The N-NE oriented port with a pier located on the east bank internally docked and about 40 m long offers 100 berths, of which 25 are temporary to medium-sized boats and draft. The dock is 0.5 m deep and the dock 1.5 m deep; boats can dock in floating docks. Boats with a draft greater than 2.5 m may enter the cove by heading toward the head of the pier and being careful not to drift to the west. The port offers basic services such as water, electricity, a telephone booth, a slipway, and stores for supplies. Enter the port by a northerly route, leaving the breakwater on the left to give bottom in front of the dock.

Surrounding the rocky shores of the harbor are several villas and a road that connects to the coastline. The houses and the old fort at the entrance to the port are clearly visible from a distance. To the left of the port is Pointe de Latoniccia, a rocky promontory surrounded by numerous rocks whose tip extends into three rocky ridges that extend about 100 m offshore. The port is exposed to southwesterly winds; boaters are advised to be aware of the weather conditions when they arrive. Coming from the south, one must pass La Botte de Tizzano, a rocky islet located 300 m offshore and flanked to the north by dangerous rocks. Pass with due caution by standing in the middle, between the coast and the Botte.

Tizzano is a village far from mass tourism whose main activity is fishing. Nearby you can find beaches and coves with crystal clear water. The main beach is Cala di L’Avena while on the opposite side of the village is Cala du Barcaju beach. 6 km to the southeast is the isolated beach of Tra Licettu. In summer you can go scuba diving or rent kayaks with which to reach some coves that cannot be reached by land.

The region offers the possibility of hiking or horseback riding inland. North of Tizzano you can visit the Alignement du Paddaghiu, the largest grouping of dolmens and mehnir in the Mediterranean. Local restaurants offer specialties of fish, lobster, and all other seafood.
