Ajaccio – Port Tino Rossi

Ports of Corsica – Ajaccio Tino Rossi

Located within a well-sheltered bay, Tino Rossi Landing, Ajaccio’s old port, has four floating docks and an internal quay for mooring large boats.

The port is located more precisely in the Bassin de la Ville and is enclosed to the south by the Citadel jetty and to the north by the Capuchin pier.
The entrance to the port of Ajaccio is continuous, and among the hazards to be noted at the entrance is the Citadel rock (south of the Citadel lighthouse) marked by red lantern on a red conical lightning tower.

The Tino Rossi Landing has a mooring capacity of 300 berths with a maximum length of 50 meters.
The only marked mooring prohibition is at the Napoleon dock. Pleasure boats can moor at the dock near the red light located on the left at the entrance.
The winds blowing are east and south with strong undertow with southwest winds.

Recreational services include the presence of:

  • A fuel station for refueling boats,
  • Fresh water and electricity connection at the dock,
  • A convenient mooring service for boaters,
  • Mobile cranes up to 4o tons,
  • boat storage service
  • Boat repair and maintenance service.

The Gulf of Ajaccio is well marked on nautical charts and its extent goes from Punta de la Parata to Cape Muro, and if you are entering at night from Punta de la Parata it is advisable to pass out of the Sanguinare Islands and continue on to Ajaccio, paying attention to the Scogli della Guardiola rocks.
Near the entrance to the Gulf of Ajaccio is another port, on the east side of the bay, which is part of a military base and access to which is denied to pleasure boats.
The port of Ajaccio is the ideal port of call for convenient access to southern Corsica and evocative localities of rare beauty such as Bonifacio and Propriano, and it is also from here that ferries to Toulon depart daily .

Strolling along Ajaccio’s old ports is undoubtedly fascinating and enjoyable, not only because of the evocative atmospheres that can still be felt along the center’s alleys, but also because of the strong historical connotation that Ajaccio carries with it, namely having been the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, founder of the first French empire.
Indeed, it is no coincidence that Ajaccio is considered the most French of Corsica ‘s cities although the old town has Genoese origins.
