The port of Bonifacio is a port west of Cape Pertusato, in the beautiful setting characterized by Corsica’s cliffs. Located on the south coast, the port is a landmark for sea life in the area, providing an optimized set of services to boats. The facility is mainly dedicated to offering moorings to fishing boats and is primarily a commercial port.
There is, however, in a well-provided area, a part dedicated to pleasure boats as well. Its history makes the place fascinating, partly due to a set of details that make it rich and interesting. However, it must be acknowledged that this traditional aspect has also seen a remarkable process of modernization of the ports, giving it an excellent reputation over the years.
In fact, renovation works have enabled the provision of 460 berths and more than 10,000 calls each year. Numbers worthy of what is the leading destination in the French Mediterranean.
The area of this port is capable of accommodating mega yachts, up to 75 meters in length with a maximum draft of 12.
250 places are dedicated to mega yachts and the remainder dedicated to fishing boats and pleasure boats. An area entirely dedicated to the latter and a commercial area are landmarks of many of the surrounding ports of call.
Of course, the nautical services offered are also of the same scope. 40-ton travel lift, hull washing, power, engine repair and electrical services. Slipway, crane and slipway.
Access to the structure requires care and an experienced hand of navigation. In fact, although such access is usually easy, difficulties can be encountered in strong winds. It is, in fact, recommended to access at a maximum speed of 3 knots. Near the facility there is also one of the few fishing reserves in the area. Well demarcated and marked, it requires only some care on the part of those accessing the port facility.
This efficient facility is, of course, graced by a postcard-perfect setting for the place. The Corsican sea and its views, especially at the path of sunset, know how to give great charm to the entire port area.
The port of Bonifacio remains over the years the landmark of southern Corsica. Ensuring anchorage for pleasure boats, it has not lost its great functions as a commercial port over the years. A point of reference for fishing boats in the area, it offers every day a set of port services worthy of a large naval facility.
