The port of Cesenatico is a canal port which serves two docks and a branch of the canal.
It offers berthing facilities for 500 boats up to 20 long mt.
Access hours are continuous and the ‘entrance is protected by two white piers with green and red lights on the heads.
The stretch of sea in front has depths of less than 3 meters so it is best to enter slowly.
The sandy bottom within the docks ridged by all winds averages about 3 meters.
In 2005 the port was restructured by inserting near the lighthouse the vincian ports, a kind of dam that closes the channel at high tide and defends the town from storm surges.
Along the channel of ingresso you can find moored fishing boats, barges for turists as well as restaurants and stores lining the quay from which supplies can be obtained.
On the opposite side less than 100 meters away the canal branches off and is interrupted by a road bridge.
Mast cruisers must stop in this section of the canal while small boats can pass under the bridge by mooring on the Mazzini Vein.
The skyscraper of Cesenatico clearly visible from the sea represents the landmark for making access to the port. A large tank placed on a pylon is an additional reference.
If clouds are seen to the west over the hills of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines Libeccio is foretold, particularly violent in summer.
In summer, Sirocco is heralded by a clear horizon to the east while if clouds are seen to the north, rain is on the way.
Cesenatico is a seaside resort located on the Romagna Riviera, between Ravenna and Rimini. Surrounding the port is the historic center of Cesenatico with its monuments and landmarks: Pisacane Square, the 19th-century fish market, Piazzettadelle Conserve and Ciceruacchio square, where the Pretoria Tower that once defended the ports from enemies.
The innermost section of the ports houses the floating Maritime Museum.
Cesenatico’s beaches are equipped with sports fields, playgrounds and services. The Levante beach turns out to be better maintained and is bordered along its entire length by gardens by the sea, an equipped green space and in the central area by a bicycle and pedestrian path.
Cesenatico and Romagna have a simple, peasant cuisine that offers tagliatelle, lasagna, pappardelle, sausage and pork meats in addition to the typicala piadina.
