Porto di Riccione

Among the best known and most visited on the entire Adriatic coast, Riccione’s canal port is surrounded by two moliparallels functional for docking small boats, but it is above all one of the most popular destinations for lovers of boating vacations. This corner of the Romagna Riviera, in fact, is renowned for the abundant presence of chic clients in constant search of vacations filled with social life, fun and relaxation at the.

The origins of this port hark back to the generosity of American Maria Boorman Ceccarini, who in 1897 used her own money to build a small port of call at the mouth of the Rio Melo as a refuge for fishing boats. A few years later, in 1901, the same wife of Dr. Giovanni Ceccarini, at her own expense built the famous road of the same name, the entry point to the city from the sea.

The development of tourism became an important factor in the emergence and expansion of recreational boating activities. The first marina was armed with two small keepers sparsely protruding into the sea from a palisade of the shores to the Dante Avenue bridge, and had become insufficient and of unsafe viability for both the fleet of small fishing boats and recreational and sport boats.

In 1923 work began on the construction of the new concrete pier. Only ten years later, at Mussolini’s interest, considerable work was carried out to clean up the harbor bottom. In the following years, other improvements were made without, however, solving the port’s fundamental problem: the restricted depth of the seabed and the mouth bar made landing difficult for a very long time.

In the same period, a dock was also built on the left side of the canal for a water area of about 4500 square meters. The work boasts the record as the first work to be built on the coast of Romagna to facilitate the development of recreational boating.

Today, Riccione’s port is one of the hottest spots on the entire Adriatic Riviera; the mouth consists of two northeast-facing piers and can accommodate up to 500 boats with a maximum length of 12 meters. The dock is equipped with all necessary services for boats and is very close to the city center.

Here, among excellent seafood restaurants, exclusive stores in the immediate vicinity and the relaxing new city promenade, you can experience the true essence of a Romagna vacation that, yesterday as today, is all about fun, sun and worldliness.

The beating heart of Riccione continues to be the real protagonist of Italian summers, welcoming all kinds of tourists with music, sports, excellent and genuine food. There is no shortage, of course, of historical and artistic attractions including the Museum of the Territory and, in the hills, the Castle of the Agolanti.
