Porto Nogaro

Porto Nogaro is a commercial and pleasure seaport in the province of Udine, and is the northernmost port in the Mediterranean Sea.

It is a seaport classified as Category II, Class III, of regional and interregional economic importance, with about four hundred merchant ships transiting international shipping every year.

It is located in the municipality of San Giorgio di Nogaro (UD).

It is also important logistically, commercially and industrially, being connected by rail and road to factories in the hinterland.

From the point of view of boating, as a whole it reaches up to 1,500 berths.

The Porto Nogaro spring is identifiable from the sea due to the presence of the safe water breakwater mede (with Radio Beacon letter “A”), a reference to navigation for alignment to the sea channel bounded by nine elastic mede, before reaching Porto Buso. [1]

The locality of Porto Buso, which forms the access from the sea to the ports of Porto Nogaro, is bordered by St. Andrew Island to the west and Porto Buso Island to the east. These islands form the coastal cordon between the sea and the backwater Lagoon of Marano and Grado.

Once past the Lagoon, going up the mouth of the Corno and Aussa rivers, one encounters a series of docks and boat landing places (for about 1,500 berths), as detailed below:

Finally, it leads up to the “Margreth” commercial dock, which is about 860 meters long and has about 25 hectares of back-dock areas useful for storing goods [2].
