Marina di Lefkas

Lefkas Marina is a state-of-the-art private marina built in 2002 right next to the old public port of Lucade. Situated in a very fortunate location, it is in the tradition of new-generation marinas that offer much more than just a berth, offering a wide range of services.

The marina is located right at the entrance to theisland of Lefkada, a paradise of white beaches, cliffs and unspoiled nature located in western Greece and connected to the mainland by a movable bridge. The eponymous town of Lefkada (or Lefkada, in Greek) is just behind the marina and embraces it with its built-up area. This makes it possible to get around on foot or by bicycle and visit the beautiful town for a quick shopping trip or lunch of typical and characteristic dishes.

Lefkada is famous for its fantastic beaches, characterized by very white sand and equally white cliffs overlooking the sea. That of Porto Katsiki is known throughout Europe, and Kathisma and Egremni are also no less and well worth a visit.

Also worth seeing (and visiting) are the islets to the east of the main island, one of which, Skorpios, is known in the news to be owned by the Onassis family.

Without wanting to stray too far, walk from the marina to Gira beach, 7 km of sandy strip that hugs a lagoon where rare birds can still be seen. Waiting for those willing to cross the bridge is the wildest part of mainland Greece.

Lefkada Marina can be accessed from the north and from the south, in the latter case via a channel bordered by signal poles and about two nautical miles long. Be careful at the entrance to the channel, not the easiest, characterized by a bend and a narrow entrance marked by four red and green buoys. The maximum speed in the channel is 4 knots, but watch out for local boaters who do not always respect it. Sailing is prohibited.

From the north, once past the bridge that connects the island to the mainland (open hourly from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.), it is only half a mile inside the channel before reaching the ports, but there is only one entrance and it is still located to the south, at the level of the gas station. Strongly advised not to leave the path marked by the buoys inside the channel, or you may run into difficulties.

Throughout the channel the depth is about 3.5 meters, so even the largest boats will have no problems. Be careful only in the northern part of the channel, stony toward the mainland, proceed with caution.

The total capacity of the marina is 620 berths up to a maximum length of 45 meters (40 for stern berths) and a draft of 4 m.; 280 dry berths. Berths are distributed on fixed and floating docks and are available on a daily, annual or multi-year basis for up to 20 years. Anchoring in marina space is not permitted except in emergencies. Contact the marina via VHF upon arrival (channel 69) and go to the office to process check-in paperwork.

All berths are equipped with electricity (220V and 380V) and fresh water. Facilities present and useful to the yachtsman include: fuel station at the entrance to the marina, three toilet/shower blocks (disabled facilities also present), laundromat, post office.

On the repair/maintenance front, it is worth mentioning the presence of two travel lifts (one 150-ton and one 70-ton), a 60-ton mobile crane, an underwater technician for repairs and inspections, and qualified personnel for electrical, mechanical, electronic, upholstery, and carpentry work.

In terms of tourist services, the marina is of modern design and well equipped. There is a hotel with a conference room and private swimming pool, a shopping center with grocery stores, souvenirs, bars and cafes, as well as stores specializing in boating services.
