Port d’Argelès-sur-Mer

Port de Argelès- sur- Mer is located along the coast of the Gulf of Lion in Mediterranean France. Part of the Eastern Pyrenees region, it is a few miles from the Spanish border and enjoys the magnificent backdrop of the Albères Mountains mountain range.

It is possible to moor along the southern breakwater or in one of the three docks present.
The total number of berths for boat mooring is 858 (of which 20 are reserved for transient boaters), for boats with a maximum length of 22 meters, while the draft of the port area varies from four meters in the front dock to 2.50 meters in the innermost area.

In the summer season, the landfall expands its offerings with 177 berths, of which 134 are at the buoy and 43 are on a floating dock.

Mooring assistance is available if desired.

Free anchorage is prohibited throughout the port area and in the area in front of the port but, on good weather days, it is possible to stay at anchor in front of the beach south of the port (plage du Racou), on a sandy seabed, with a depth ranging from 3 to 5 meters.
The port area is fairly protected from winds,is affected by southwesterly winds, but winds from the northeasterly direction can make access to the port area less favorable. The marina provides its boaters with drinking water sources and electricity supply columns.

Toilets and showers are located in three areas. There are twelve toilets (one of which is designed to be used comfortably by people with disabilities), seventeen are showers (including one for people with physical disabilities), and the recycling collection area can also accommodate used oils and filters, iron components, battery boxes, and hydrocarbon drums.

The Harbor Master’s Office publishes weather reports twice a day.

The shipbuilding area has a slipway (for a fee), a travelift with a maximum capacity of 35 tons, a 1.5-ton mobile crane, and a storage area for the winter months.
Customers at the port of Argelès can also avail themselves of the presence of a number of experts for various maintenance and repair operations.
In addition, there is a diesel and fuel station in the port area with 24-hour automatic service.

A fish market with local fishermen is held inside the port during the summer.
The Port of Argelès- sur- Mer area hosts restaurants, bars, pizzerias, and supermarkets.

Through the services offered by the port’s professional staff, it is also possible to take sailing and boating courses, take boat trips, play sports, and go scuba diving.

The area of Argelès- sur- Mer offers beautiful beaches, very crowded in the summertime. South of the ports is the plage de Racou. It is a sandy beach, further from the center of the town and therefore less crowded than the others. Here there is a sailing center and-in the right part of the beach-you can bring your dogs (keeping them on a leash).

North of the ports, on the other hand, is the Plage Sud, which occupies a more central location than the city center. It is a large sandy beach with a view of Colliure Bay. Those arriving here by car can take advantage of one of the parking lots that border the port area. A rescue station operates on this beach during the summer period.

The plage du Centre is slightly further from the port de Argelès- su- Mer. It is a large sandy beach, much accorsed in the summer period because of its central location to the city center and its size. Restaurants, bars, and a few other businesses can be found along the pedestrian path that runs along it.
