Port de Sète

Port de Sète is located along the coast of the Gulf of Lion (in Mediterranean France), in the Hèrault region.

It is a multipurpose port, offering a commercial area, an area dedicated to fishing boats, and a boating area, which is spread out a bit along the entire city area.

The yachting port is spread over several docks, with several piers and some canals. It accommodates 1750 berths, of which 1110 are berths located in the canals (and are reserved almost exclusively for subscribers).

The port can accommodate boats with a length of no more than 80 meters and a maximum draft of between 6 and 8 meters (depending on the mooring area). For boats over 50 meters in length, the port provides a number of mobile docks and a service facility for boaters, so it is preferable to report the arrival of a large boat in advance.

The seawall at the entrance to the port offers two different accesses, east and west. The western access is reserved for pleasure boats (and fishing boats), while the eastern access is for the exclusive use of commercial vessels.

The port area is quite protected by its location between the sea and the standing water of theEtang du Thau, but entry to the ports from the western access is not recommended in strong winds from the southeast.

The marina provides its boaters with drinking water sources and power columns, as well as a wi- fi connection (free for a limited time).

It has sanitary facilities and shower rooms located at various points on the landing (areas accessible only by a magnetic badge). It also has an area designated for waste and waste oil collection.

A weather report is issued daily and can be viewed in the port offices.

The port area has a shipbuilding area with a crane, travelift, and engine storage space. These facilities are available upon request. The port is located right in the heart of the city. Its strategic location within the urban agglomeration places it close to all kinds of commercial activities and services: hotels, theaters, offices, banks, restaurants, public gardens, train station, and car rental agencies.

The coast around Port de Sète is rich in beaches (there are about 12 kilometers of them). All of them enjoy the pleasant backdrop of the Etang du Thau.

Sète’s Crique de la Vigie is the beach closest to the center of Sète. It has three different bathing areas, unequipped and unsupervised (not even in the summer season). Not far away, the plage du Lazaret offers showers and access for people with physical disabilities. Slightly further south is the plage de la Corniche, a beautiful stretch of about 200 meters of sand divided into two small inlets and protected by a seawall. It offers showers, toilets and the possibility of renting beach equipment.
In the immediate vicinity you can find bars, restaurants and free parking.

The plage de la Quille is located in the takes of the port des Quilles sur la Corniche. It is a sandy beach, well protected by the presence of some dikes.

It has access designed for people with reduced mobility capabilities and parking in its immediate vicinity. On the beach you can find showers and toilets, while on the adjacent pedestrian street you can find various types of businesses (bars, restaurants, stores).

A few beaches can also be found on the shores of l’Etang de Thau. La plage de Balaruc les Bains is a long beach located in the resort of the same name. It has access for people with reduced mobility and a surveillance station for the summer season. The promenade hosts bars and restaurants.
