Base Nautica Flavio Gioia – Gaeta

Flavio Gioia – Tourist landing in Lazio in the Gulf of Gaeta

Just in front of the ancient Borgo di Elena, once the city’s fishing district, very close to Gaeta’s historic center, is the Flavio Gioia Nautical Base, a port in Lazio for boats and super yachts.

Thanks to the mountain range of the Aurunci Mountains, which, with its 1,500 meters in height to the north of the bay provides the bay with protection from major crossings, the Gulf of Gaeta is considered, for mooring and navigation, one of the safest places in the entire Mediterranean Sea.

A video (Marco Polo) from the Flavio Gioia Nautical Base.

The port structure

The ports has a breakwater pier, 200 meters in, protection. Within the body of water there are equipped docks that allow the berthing of large vessels (with mooring assistance), thanks also to the seabed, which reaches a depth of 7 meters, for a total of 250 berths.

15 places are reserved for mooring super yacht units up to 60 mt in length.

The moorings are equipped with a dead body returned to the dock.

The shipyard

A fully equipped shipyard is located at the marina for specialized technical assistance on all areas of shipbuilding, such as refitting and storage of boats, sail and motor.

  • 100-ton travel lift (variable track width) for handling boats with a maximum draft of 4 mt and 30 mt length.
  • Self-propelled trolleys, one of 50 tons and the other of 70 tons, used for moving in the sheds and on the outside yards of motor and sail boats in storage.
  • Mobile crane (16 tons) for various tasks of engine disembarkation, mast removal, and small boat handling.
  • Bunker
  • Slide, employed for small units max 5 mt long.
  • Sheds for indoor storage (boats max. 20 m long and area of 120m2)
  • Various technical services for all-around management and maintenance of the boat.

Sailing School

The port is also an important technical base of reference for sailors, constantly employed, by them, for winter training and sailing regattas, both national and international.
