The territory of San Felice al Circeo is a symbolic place in human history, shrouded in the myth of the landing of Ulysses who, lured by the sorceress Circe, lived for a long time prey to the grass of love. This geographic area was inhabited from very ancient times as evidenced by the remains of prehistoric men found there.
This area is a well-executed environmental summary in which the promontory emerges, the only relief of the Pontine plain, from the top of which the entire panorama encompasses the plain, the mountains, the sea and the Pontine islands. At the foot and around the mountain reigns the deep green of the Circeo National Park.
The promontory is characterized by a rocky coastline that gives way on the southeastern side to the beach advancing to Terracina. Those who enjoy vacations by boat and the open sea can use the marina, which also offers a fast motorboat connection to the Pontine Islands in the summer.
San Felice Circeo‘s well-equipped and hospitable marina becomes a beautiful postcard to be admired while sitting in one of the clubs, bars and restaurants, located under the hill towards the sea. It consists of a 580-meter-long reefed breakwater and a 215-meter-long sub-billow pier, docked and partly equipped for recreational docking. On the western side are a series of piers, both fixed and floating, operated by the Circeo I Cooperative, which provides mooring for 380 pleasure boats up to 20 meters long.
In 2014, at the end of the verification of the legality of the state concessions issued to the Circeo I Cooperative, conditions emerged to activate the ex officio cancellation of the same concessions, which were issued in violation of the European Parliament directive on the navigation code.
If visitors to this magical area prefer the beach, they will be spoiled for choice among the thirty-five bathing establishments on the sand on which to lie or sit in a deck chair under an umbrella.
Diving enthusiasts can descend to a depth of 18 meters to admire the bronze statue of Christ of Circeo, which has inhabited the Pontine seabed since April 1992. Or the statue of the Face of Christinhabited in 2010 in front of the Grotta delle Capre. The small port also contains the rental of a small boat on board of which to sail along the promontory, encountering the Cave of the Crib and the Chalice and a few meters away the Blue Cave where it is possible to enter only with calm sea.
The San Felice Circeo port and beach area has been Blue Flag since 2009 for beach cleanliness and tourist landings
