The port of Bocca di Magra is located at the mouth of the Magra River of the same name, within the Montemarcello Regional Park. Leaving the Gulf of La Spezia, the small port is located beyond Punta Bianca, the southern end of the Caprione Promontory.
In Bocca di Magra it is possible to take beautiful walks along the waterfront or spend time at the existing small beach; the resort also has a large number of restaurants and bars. Every few minutes, small ferries depart from Bocca di Magra, making it possible to reach Punta Corvo but also Lerici, Porto Venere, and the Cinque Terre in a short time.
For those who do not have their own boat, there are facilities in Bocca di Magra to rent boats, dinghies or goiters to fully enjoy the beauty of the Gulf of La Spezia.
Due to its proximity to the Cinque Terre and the Gulf of Poets, therefore, the port of Bocca di Magra can be considered an excellent point of reference for boaters of all nationalities who have a desire to make cruises and explore the area thoroughly.
For boaters wishing to sail up the river to enjoy the immense beauty of the place, it is important to take into account the shallow water. Keeping to the left, sail and motor boats can go up the river to the Bridge over the Magra. Motor boats can cross the bridge: beyond this point, remember to move to the right side of the river. Inflatable boats have the option of going up the river up to 3 km.
Being located outside the Gulf of La Spezia, the port of Bocca di Magra turns out to be rather exposed to winds; in particular, operations can be made difficult by the sirocco wind, which blows from the southeast. When this wind is too strong, the port is secured through a floating barrier called Ondarail, which ensures complete safety within the port.
The marina is easy to spot: even from a fair distance it is possible to see the breakwater without difficulty. Being located within the village, the port is in a traffic-restricted area: peace and quiet rule, and the absence of cars makes it possible to stroll in peace or to move around freely with the bicycles provided by the port for rent.
The management organizes frequent excursions to encourage discovery of the hinterland and the area, and provides clients with a small beach, adjacent to the port itself.
The port of Bocca di Magra can accommodate up to 256 vessels and provides 20 transit berths. A good number of services are provided within the port including meteosat, mooring assistance, dockside garbage pickup, restrooms, toilets and showers, and dockside light and water. Boaters will also have the opportunity to make use of the day and night video surveillance service and use the facility’s wi-fi network.
There is no shortage of services and conveniences: within the ports you can find a pharmacy or take advantage of ATM service, disabled assistance, and services for animal friends. The distance between the parking lot and the port is covered by a connection via golf car (small electric vehicle).
The ports and management offices are open year-round. For any information you can contact the management, as well as by phone or fax, via e-mail through info@amegliaservizi.it.
